The Christmas Adventure is a dynamic light show that takes ordinary Christmas lights and sets them to the seasons music. We are Christian biased, and most if not all of the songs we use are songs you may hear on the Christian radio around Christmas time. We have ben around since 2005 and we are currently planning for the 2009 light show.
The Christmas Adventure did not start out as it is today, we were originally called “A Williamsburg Christmas” for two years for the years 2005-2006. In year 2007 the official change was announced to the “Christmas Adventure”. Below is a quick introduction to the adventure.
2005: An ideal was brought forth to myself (Daniel) to look into step-animation for the 2005 Christmas lights. Once I thought about this idea, I turned to Google to tell me how to do this plan. Through a few weeks of searching, I came across a product for computerized animation, with the possibility to sync up the animation with music. Of course, this caught my eye and in the end, I bought a 8 channel controller for the first year. On the video page, link on the left, you can see a video of one of the 2005 songs. Again, it was only 8 channels, and all white lights.
2006: THE BEST YEAR EVER! I know this is hard to believe as I do not have any videos available online (yet) , but it was the greatest year of “A Williamsburg Christmas”! I bought another controller, but this one was a 16 channel, so I had 24 channels total. The yard had three colors of lights, and the shows were a tad longer.
2007: Lots changed this year. The name change took place and the show is now called “the Christmas Adventure”. A new website launched and the site joined up with the “everythingDaniel Network”. This year I did not do n outside show due to multiple reasons. So the inside tree got a 3 color, 16 channel light show on it! It was way too cool! Videos are available.
2008: No show is planned. I did purchase another 16 channels to bring my count up to 40 channels. Lots of items have been planned for the 2009 show.
2009: Not yet happened. This show WILL be the BEST I have ever put on. No exceptions. Planning has already started. When this show premieres, it will be awesome. There is a very slight chance that this year might also be missed, but I can promise a 2010 show, if I do jump to 2010, all I can say is that it will be amazing.
Currently, we are planning a few new site features. The plan in a nutshell is to create a user-based site that would take most of the focus of the Adventure, and put the spotlight on other displays and shows from around the world. Although this feature will take a while to go through planning and development, a submission form will be available early next year (2009) to start taking submissions for people that want their display/show featured here.
