Intro...
These instructions are provided as-is with no guarantee that this works or doesn't work. Read ALL the instructions first before performing operation. Costs? Mine was $15. I got the router free.
Steps...
1. Note that the pictures are of the finished product.
2. Gather all the part together.
3. Open transmitter up, and look for a spiral area in the board, that is the internal antenna.
4. Completely destroy Linksys router while removing the antennas.
5. Mount antennas in project box.
6. Solder antenna leads to the little hole in the middle of the spiral on the circut board.
7. Use resistors to get 3v power supply down to about 1.5-2v.
8. Attach power to battery springs by soldering.
9. Attach audio cord.
10. Mount everything in the box.
Operation...
OK, why cut down the voltage? Well I found out that it transmits farther when the batteries are dead, so I simulated dead batteries. Also, you will hear a low frequency hum, my theory is that that is noise from the power supply, because it generally does not happen with the batteries are half dead. So operation is kinda standard, turn it on, and see where you get. Mine got line of sight, you can hear the music as long as you see the house it is coming from, which is plenty powerful for me! IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANY HUMS WITH YOUR MUSIC BETTER NOT TRY THIS!!! For me the hums are not a problem because once the music is going, it is hard to hear.
